Vantage Pro FAQ Answers - Compatibility

VANTAGE PRO COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER DAVIS WEATHER STATIONS

NOTE for European/Overseas users

Several questions in this section refer to ConsoleLink and wireless WMII stations. These wireless units were originally produced only to US specification transmitting on 916.5MHz.

In many countries outside the US, this frequency was outside the offical bands for licence-free operation and these units could not legally be sold in those territories. If you do live eg in Europe, please bear in mind that some of these questions will not be relevant to your systems - they do not imply for example that wireless WMII systems have suddently become available for European use. However, the Console Link radio transmitter unit is now available in Overseas specification (7617OV) and can be used to transmit data from existing cabled WWIII and WMII units to VP wireless consoles or to Weather Echo units.

Will my current Davis instrument wireless weather station work with the new Vantage Pro?

Yes, the Vantage Pro Display Console will receive the transmission from your wireless SensorLink Sensor Array. You will get all the readings except rain rate. You will need to change the transmitter selected from (ISS) to (SENSORLINK) on Set-up screen 2 per page 20 of the Console Manual. Also, the Weather Monitor II and Weather Wizard III Display Console/Receiver will be able to receive the transmission from the Vantage Pro Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) except for the rain rate reading. However, if you have a Vantage Pro Plus the Weather Monitor II and Weather Wizard III Display Console will not display the Solar Radiation sensor or UV sensor values.

I don't get any rain readings on my Vantage Pro display console using my Sensorlink transmitter.

Push the Done button and hold it down and then push the "-" key at the same time. You now are in the set-up screens. The first screen should say receiving from and station No. Above the line with the number of the transmitters it is receiving from (default is station 1). Push the Done button and quickly let go. You are now in set-up screen 2. The bottom of the screen should read ON (ISS). Push the Graph button and let go repeatedly until the screen reads ON (SENSORLINK). Push the Done button and hold it down until the current readings come back on screen. It will now read the rain from your rain collector connected to the SensorLink.

Will my cabled Weather Wizard III or Weather Monitor II work with the new Vantage Pro?

No it will not. The cable between the Sensor Array and Vantage display console transmits the data differently than on prior stations. Cabled systems are incompatible.

If I currently have a cabled system and connect a ConsoleLink to the display console will the Vantage Pro be able to read it?

Yes, this is actually the only way for a cabled Weather Monitor II or cabled Weather Wizard III to work with the Vantage Pro. Connect the ConsoleLink to the Monitor/Wizard display console and set the ID code to match the ID code on the Vantage Pro Display Console/Receiver and it will work.

Can I use the Weather Echo or Weather Echo Plus with the Vantage Pro?

Yes, The Echo and Echo Plus will be able to read the transmission from the Vantage ISS. Also the Vantage Pro Display Console / Receiver has the ability to re-transmit a signal so it can send a transmission to the Echo or Echo Plus without the Echo being in range of the original transmitter.
